Growing Chess in Alaska

Updated: Nov 4, 2019

Chess has been in Alaska for years. However, to the lower 48 it looks like nothing has been going on since there have been very few rated events. We are here to change that. We are now the designated USCF (United States Chess Federation) affiliate for the State of Alaska. This means we will be running USCF rated tournaments throughout Alaska to connect the chess community and bring in new players. We also will be partnering with the community and schools to help develop clubs and bring chess to all parts of Alaska. We also have certified chess coaches available to work one on one with you to help improve your game. We are excited about this journey and look forward to seeing you at one of our next events.

We also want to hear from you. If your school or community doesn't offer a chess program let us know and we will do our best to help start one. If you have any thoughts on things we could do better or events you would like us to start please feel free to reach us at
